Minimum Eligibility

  • Age: 17 years (at the time of issue) 
  • Education: 10+2 with Physics & Mathematics (or equivalent)
  • Medical: DGCA Class 2 Medical (later upgraded to Class 1 if pursuing CPL)
     

Flying Requirements

  • Minimum 40 hours of flight training, including:
     
    • 20 hours dual flight instruction (with instructor)
    • 10 hours solo flight time
    • 5 hours solo cross-country flying (including one cross-country flight of at least 150 NM with two full-stop landings at different aerodromes)
    • 5 hours instrument flying (up to 2 hours may be on simulator)
       

Ground Subjects (Written Exams)

  • Air Navigation
  • Aviation Meteorology
  • Air Regulations 
  • Aircraft Technical (General & Specific)
  • Radio Telephony (RTR)
     

Skill Test

  • Conducted by a DGCA-approved examiner on the aircraft type used for training.
     

PPL allows you to fly as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) for hobby or private flying, but not for commercial operations for hire or remuneration.

  • Canada/US 20-25L

 Flying Requirement

  • Total Flying Hours – 200 hours minimum, including:
  • 100 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC)
  • 20 hours cross-country as PIC (including one cross-country of at least 300 NM with two full-stop landings at different aerodromes)
  • 10 hours instrument flying (up to 5 hours may be on a simulator)
  • 5 hours of night flying, including 10 take-offs and 10 landings as PIC
     

 Multi-Engine Requirement

  • Minimum 10 hours on Multi-Engine Aircraft (can include instrument flying)
  • Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR) is required for the CPL issue if you train on multi-engine aircraft
  • DGCA skill test/check ride on a multi-engine aircraft with an examiner
     

 Ground School Subjects (Written Exams)

  • Air Navigation
  • Aviation Meteorology
  • Air Regulations
  • Technical General & Technical Specific (including multi-engine aircraft type)
  • Radio Telephony (RTR)
     

Medical Requirement 

  •  DGCA Class 1 Medical Certificate.


Final CPL Skill Test – Conducted on the multi-engine aircraft to demonstrate competency.

License Conversion

(FAA/TC/SACAA/EASA) to DGCA

 

  • Evidence of Current Rating in accordance with Para 3 of CAR Section 7 Series G Part I (As applicable)
  • IR test Report Attachment (As applicable)
  • ELP Certificate
  • Clearance certificate from Competent Authority (As applicable)
  • Accident/Incident free Certificate from Competent Authority(preceding 5 years) (As applicable)
  • Foreign License 
  • Valid and latest class 1 foreign medical certificate
  • FTO/ ATO Approval Certificate Issued by contracting state for the period of Flying training 
  • Full copy of passport
  • Other Details (As applicable)


For Aeroplane Specificially

  • Signal reception Certificate
  • 300 nm Cross country statement
  • 20/50 hr PIC Cross country statement
  • 20/40 hr Instrument time statement
  • 15 hr PIC Statement in last 6 month
  • 5 hour PIC by Night with 10 takeoff and landing in preceding 6 months
  • 5 hr Instrument time statement in preceding 6 month
  • Police verification (If not already submitted)
  • Skill test and IR check report undertaking in contracting state
  • 100 hr PIC Statement
  • Skill Test report for 120 NM Cross Country
